Counter-clockwiseness

Just as in dancing (apparently), rowing—at least on White Rock Lake—is a counter-clockwise affair.
Recent near-misses of single sculls with team eights have prompted a revisiting of lake rowing etiquette and caution.
In general, row the lake in a counter-clockwise direction.
If anyone wants to repeat the same water, they stay out of the main “traffic lane” i.e. the point-to-point loop around the lake. Examples of water that can be rowed both ways would be the bay across from the Boathouse and sticking close to Garland Road from the spillway to the iron bridge by the Arboretum where a lot of our newer rowers practice on days with a southerly breeze.
Let’s keep the lake safe and fun for all.
